On the eve of Teacher’s Day, teachers of Prayas participated in various competitions held by J.H. Ambani School. This included creative writing, fancy dress competition etc. Our educator Ms. Ekta Tondon won the Dronacharya Award for securing highest marks and giving excellent performance for performing excellently.

Nikita Ganesan, honoured as Surat’s Running Queen brought great pride for Prayas. Nikita participated in the National Level Athletic Meet, 2011, held by District Sports Authority at St. Xavier’s School, Surat. She participated in 100 m and 200 m track events for under 14 and under 16 categories. She finished the race in record time and secured 2nd place in 200m in under 16 categories. She won cash prize and certificates. At present she is under training for her next level meet to be held at Shabar Stadium, Bholeshwar, Himmatnagar.

An Art Competition is held every year by “BHAVANI CDC’’ (Child Development Center) Jaipur. Students of Prayas actively participated in various categories of the competition .Five children secured positions and received prizes.

Prayas has embraced theatre as a medium to educate. It also experiments theatre as a means of spreading education in the society. Along with “SPARASH”- a Psycho Diagnostic and Therapy Clinic , Prayas made its students participate in a theatre play of 90 mins – Ek Baat Ankahi.

The story revolves around the attitude of two families towards their children, who, unknown to their parents, are suffering from Learning Disability. The sensitive subject touched the viewers. The play was selected by National School of Drama (NSD), Delhi. Out of thousand entries only 16 plays are selected nationally. This play was selected to celebrate the “Jashn-e-Bachpan” by ‘National Theatre Festival For Children’ act NSD held between 1st to 15th October 2010. Our children finally went to Delhi and delivered an excellent theatre performance!!

Our Managing Trustee Ms. Bala Saraswathy received the Kiran Memorial Award in Delhi for being the Woman Of Substance.
